Desktop Support Specialist (Contract)

This is a long-term contract with our one of our large public sector clients in the LA region (approx. 12 mth, can extend YoY).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Our client is currently looking for a Consultant to assist with their Windows 10 Desktop Upgrade Project.  The project will include migrating all desktops to Windows 10 from Windows 7 within a deployment project timeline; testing and maintaining operating system updates across desktop devices; and providing technical support to end-user client systems including desktop, laptops and mobile computing devices.

The Consultant shall perform all of the duties listed below:

  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of desktops, laptops, peripheral equipment, and software within established standards and guidelines
  • Provide technical support, installing, monitoring, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining PC hardware, software, and equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance
  • Interact with application software and operating systems to troubleshoot unique incidences and make recommendations to the team
  • Execute tasks necessary for computer replacement and data recovery
  • Troubleshoot trouble tickets to resolve basic technical problems with desktop computing equipment
  • Provide technical assistance to employees using Active Directory
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues on desktop computers and laptops
  • Create status reports on service levels
  • Conduct physical inventory of assets

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The Consultant must meet all of the following minimum qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in Microsoft Technologies, including Windows 10, Windows Imaging, and Office 365
  • 2+ years of experience in Customer Service (phone and in-person)
  • Experience with Scripting tools like Perl, VBS, and Shell, preferred
  • Knowledge of Standard Operating Systems
  • Experience with Active Directory
  • Experience configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting end-user client systems including desktop, laptops and mobile computing devices
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs., transport, unbox, and setup PC devices and related equipment
  • Excellent Communication (written and verbal) skills
  • System Administration experience is a plus
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Creative and resourceful, able to think outside the box
