LAN Administrator (Contract) – Rancho Mirage, CA

We are looking for a LAN Administrator for one of our customers in the Coachella Valley. This position is responsible for supporting and keeping the network well maintained and functioning optimally. The LAN Administrator also functions to design and install new data communications as needed. A thorough knowledge of network operating systems is essential to the successful fulfillment of duties. Excellent communication, documentation, and follow-up skills are required. LAN Administrator is expected to coach less experienced technicians regarding the support of the network computing environment. This position also has responsibilities that include some basic PC and client application understanding, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT or Computer Science, preferred
  • Active CompTIA Network+ certification
  • Active CCNA
  • CCNP, CWNS, CWSP or equivalent, preferred
  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in network support
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting LAN hardware/software in a healthcare environment, preferred
  • Project management experience, preferred
  • In depth knowledge of Cisco network concepts, operating systems, devices, schemas and operations.
  • Advanced Cisco bridge/router/switch building, troubleshooting, and repairs skills.
  • Technical writing including, but not limited to, network diagrams, infrastructure documentation, problem descriptions, resolutions, change control notification, and other documents.
  • Advanced skills using network management applications/utilities such as Citrix, LANDesk, Remote Desktop, Cisco WLSE, etc. Electronic delivery of appliance OS updates also.
  • Strong facilitation, organization, and team building skills.
  • Excellent communication skills are needed including; oral, written and follow-up.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate complex network concepts, issues, and resolutions.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining Cisco 6500, 3550, 3548, PIX firewalls, 1200 WAP’s, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot wide ranges of network performance issues, often times in a crisis type environment.
  • Ability to coach other technical staff both basic and advanced topics.
